Meet the Pastor of First Apostolic Church of Blacksburg, South Carolina
I was primarily raised in a home of a single parent (my mother) due to the fact that my father passed away when I was only 8 years old. This made life pretty tough since I did have other siblings that my Mother had to supply for. I began working at 14 years old along with attending school.
At the age of 18 I got myself into a little bit of trouble with the law enforcement. I knew that this was not a path that I needed in my life.
Shortly after this incident my Mother began attending a Pentecostal church and her life began to change drastically. It was only a little while that I was persuaded to visit the church. I really thought that they were a bunch of crazy people. I had never seen people openly worship God like they did there. I was persuaded to go back a time or two after some time had passed. I saw a genuine Joy that everyone had and began to long for the same thing that they had in their life.
It was after just a short while of attending services that I was baptized in the name of Jesus. My life too began to drastically change. The loneliness that I always had inside my heart was finally being filled. God filled it with his Spirit and then called me to preach his word.
While attending services there I met a beautiful lady (Wendy Cooper) that later became my wife. We have been married now for 18 years and have 2 beautiful daughters (Leah & Rachel).
In 2008 God began to send us down a different road. We had been assisting our Pastor at our home church but felt like we needed to start a home mission church in our city. We rented a space to hold services for close to a year and then were able to purchase our current facility. Never would I have thought that I could be where I am at today but God is the master carpenter.
My wife and I share a passion to help others find the same fulfillment that we have found in the life changing power of Jesus. We invite you to come experience the Power of Pentecost at the First Apostolic Church of Blacksburg.

First Apostolic Church of Blacksburg is an Apostolic Pentecostal Church.
Simply put, we are “Apostolic” because we adhere to the doctrines of the Apostles as taught to them by Jesus Christ. And we are “Pentecostal” by experience as modeled for us on the Day of Pentecost, Acts 2. Below is a closer look at the tenets of our faith.
ABOUT THE BIBLE
We Believe the Bible is the inspired and only infallible and authoritative written Word of God.
II Timothy 3:16; Ephesians 3:5; II Peter 3:2
ABOUT GOD
We believe that there is only one God, who revealed Himself to humanity in the person of Jesus Christ.
Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Timothy 3:16; John 14:9
ABOUT JESUS CHRIST
We believe that salvation is only found in Jesus Christ and is appropriated to humanity by God’s grace through the New Testament new-birth experience.
Acts 4:12; Ephesians 2:8; John 3:3-7
ABOUT SALVATION
We believe that the new-birth experience is comprised of repentance, water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ, and the infilling of the Holy Spirit. This is the New Testament pattern for all believers to follow as a result of their faith in Christ.

ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that when a person receives the baptism of the Holy Spirit, that person will speak with other tongues under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:4; Acts 19:6; Isaiah 28:11) We believe that believers are called to live a holy, pure life before God and all humanity.

ABOUT THE NAME OF JESUS
The authority of God is vested in the Name of Jesus (Philippians 2:9-10; Matthew 7:22; Mark 16:7; John 14:14;: Acts 4:12). All that the believer does “in word or deed” is to be done in Jesus’ Name (Colossians 3:17). The Name of Jesus becomes our new “family name” (I Corinthians 1:12-15; Romans 6:4: II Corinthians 5:17), The authority of the Godhead is vested in the Name of Jesus!

ABOUT THE SECOND COMING
We believe that the church will be raptured by Christ and will exist with Him forever in eternity.

ABOUT MIRACLES
We believe that God’s power is still active in the church and that healing, signs, and miracles are available to God’s people through faith in Jesus Christ.
